The first thing to know about St. John the Baptist is that it's full of kids.
SJB is an elementary school with boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We have one class per grade, about 245 students in all. Although we are a Catholic school and we are committed to living as Jesus taught us, we welcome non-Catholic students and their families in our community. At SJB, we take pride in our kind, inclusive atmosphere. SJB students feel a sense of belonging. We are proud of our high academic standards, including our outstanding writing and Spanish programs and our integration of technology across the curriculum. We are proud of our graduates. Most of our 8th graders go to the Catholic high schools of their choice. Last year's 28 graduates won $210,000 in academic scholarships. We are proud of our achievement. SJB was one of 50 states in the country designated a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Education Department. That award is given when students in each class and category score in the top 85 percent in reading and math. SJB is accredited annually by AdvancEd, an accreditation organization that grew out of two regional accreditation groups: the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
SJB students in Grades 1-8 start off the school year with a prayer in the gym.
It's about that time! Tomorrow is the first day of school. It's a half-day, which means school starts at 8 AM and ends at Noon. Morning Care is available from 7 to 8 AM. After Care starts at Noon and ends at 4 PM.
