Children’s Baptism

In an ideal world parents would request Baptism within the first few months of their child’s arrival. In our complex world, however, for myriad reasons, a few months sometimes become a few years and parents come to the parish seeking Baptism for children of various ages. Even though it is still the parents who undertake the primary responsibility with their children’s Baptism, the older children need to be included in the preparation as well.

The Children’s Baptism Program is designed for children between ages 4 and 12.

Requirement for participation in the program is that they are enrolled in the ongoing Religious Education program.

The actual Baptism preparation takes place in Lent. Both parents and the children are asked to attend four sessions on four Sundays of Lent from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The children work with catechists in groups according to their age level and the parents have Preparation Sessions with a Baptism Team couple.

The Children’s Baptism is always celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter at the 12:00 p.m. Mass. Rehearsal for the Baptism is on Saturday night.
