Advocacy for Justice and Peace

of the Social Justice Committee
Duties: Organize parish efforts to advocate for policies which reflect Catholic
support for justice and peace. May include writing letters, visiting members
of Congress, members of the Maryland legislature, or County Council members,
and attending public witness events. Issues have included: the living wage bill
in Montgomery County, death penalty moratorium in Maryland, debt relief for
developing countries, and an end to U.S. sanctions against Iraq.
Time: Varies, no more than 4 meetings a year, plus involvement in events or
actions
Special skills: A desire to work for justice and peace
