High School Youth Ministry

What is High School Youth Ministry all About?

Youth Ministry is to, with, by and for young people. Adults and teens work together to meet the spiritual, educational, service, and community building needs of teens in the parish.

Educational and Spiritual

We have many different activities that cater to the unique spiritual needs of high school students. Some of these activities include:
  • Sunday Night Youth Group. Each meeting has a theme. These weekly meetings involve some social time with snacks and activities and discussion around some aspect of our shared faith. Both youth and adult leaders take part in planning each session.
  • Faith Sharing. This is a casual atmosphere where the youth get together and discuss how the scripture relates to their day-to-day life. Meets during Lent.
  • Retreats. Every Fall and Spring we go on a weekend retreat to reflect on some aspect of our faith together.
  • Youth Mass. On the 4th Sunday of the Month young people serve as liturgical ministers – ushers, gift bearers, lectors, part of the Youth Ensemble

Service and Social Justice

Service to our Parish and community is a large part of the work we do. There are many different ways that we, as youth, can serve the community. Some of the projects we are doing this year include:
  • Encounter the Gospel of Life (www.eglweb.org)
  • Babysitting at Temple Shalom
  • Help the Homeless mini-Walk
  • C-4 Toy Drive
  • Lobby Night
  • Living Stations of the Cross
  • Parish Service Day

Community Life

Social events help us build a strong sense of community. In the High School youth group, we have many events throughout the year that are just for fun. Some of these include:
  • Six Flags
  • Ski Trip
  • Barbecues
  • Ice Skating
  • Haunted Forest
