Principal's Note 2/22/17

I am pleased to announce that we have hired our first preschool teacher, Diana McPherson.

We are very excited about her qualifications as a pre-K teacher. Our new preschool will open on Sept. 5 in a renovated portion of the Lyon Center.

Mrs. McPherson is a graduate of St. Johns College High School and the University of Maryland, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Spanish Language and Culture. She received a Masters in Early Childhood Special Education also from the University of Maryland.

After school, Mrs. McPherson taught special education in a pre-K program in Prince George's County Public Schools for two years. She also interned for a year in PG schools.

Before high school and college, Mrs. McPherson was a student at SJB and went by her maiden name, Diana Liddi.

Now she is married with a baby on the way. She and her husband live in Silver Spring.

When you see Mrs. McPherson, please welcome her to SJB... Welcome her home.

Last Call to Purchase a Yearbook Ad!

Yearbook ads are due this Friday, Feb. 24! If you would like to purchase an ad to congratulate your graduate or promote your business, see flyer on the Gold Folder page for details. Unfortunately, we can't accept any late ads due to our tight deadline from the publishing company. Contact Mrs. Leishear with questions.

Please Return H.S.A. Nomination Forms

Please remember to return H.S.A. nomination forms in the Gold Folder so that the Elections Committee can check with the candidates and get the election under way.

A Few Calendar Changes

There are a few minor changes to the calendar. Dismissal will be at 12 noon on Friday, May 19. That is the date of the Teacher's Appreciation Lunch, which we recently moved back a week to allow spring play to show on May 10-12.

On Friday, May 12, the morning after the spring play's first nighttime show, school will start two hours late. School will start at 10 am.

The changes appear on our school calendar. Please remember that the online calendar is our official updated calendar.
