SJB Halloween Parade is 8:30 AM Thursday
There will be a Halloween Parade around the field starting at 8:30 am on Thursday. Students should wear their Halloween costumes to school on Thursday. Parents will be able to come and watch the parade from the field or from a designated spectator section in the lot.
To encourage simple costumes for the children, we are skipping the costume contest this year. We'll still have opportunities for prizes, fun, and 8th grade masters of ceremony.
Dismissal is At 12 Noon on Thursday -- Remember that Thursday, October 28, is also a half-day.
No School Friday, October 29 -- There will be no school on Friday, October 29, a professional development day for all Catholic school elementary teachers in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington.
Thank You, SJB Families, for Collecting Food for the Hungry
Thank you, as well, to the SJB Knights of Columbus for delivering 672 pounds of food collected by the school to the St. Camillus Food Pantry over the weekend. The St. Camillus volunteers extend their gratitude to all of you. The pantry will continue to receive food every 1st & 3rd Saturday from 9-12.
The Gold Folder Has Details on...
- Basketball Tryouts
- Soccer Appreciation Night
- 8th Grade Wreath Sale
- Home School Fundraising
Our aim is to send important messages to school families each Tuesday or Wednesday in the Principal's Not and to display school information that has already appeared in the Principal's Note on the Gold Folder page along with SJB community, activity, and sports news.
Christmas Program This Year Will Be a Movie
Instead of having a live concert in the church, the school will send families a video of class performances of Christmas songs and the Christmas story.
Applications Open for Tuition Assistance for Next School Year
Families may apply now for tuition assistance for the 2022-23 school year. The application deadline is December 3.
To apply, log into your TADS account and select Financial Aid.
Awards went to 51 SJB students for a total of $51,240 for this school year.
In mid-March, the Archdiocese will notify families of tuition assistance awards for the following 2022-23 school year.
SJB policy requires that families must complete an application for Archdiocesan tuition assistance before receiving financial aid from the parish. The requirement doesn't apply to assistance in the form of the regular discounts for siblings and Catholic parishioners.
SJB Will Shift To Single Rate Tuition
In compliance with Archdiocese of Washington policy, the school will use a new, single-rate tuition schedule for the 2022-23 school year.
The new chart will appear in the next several weeks on the enrollment webpage and will feature a single non-Catholic tuition rate with assistance offered for siblings and parish members.
Applications for New Students to Open on November 1
We are encouraging our current families to apply right away for their children for preschool and Kindergarten, as well as other grades. We expect to send admissions notices for preschool and Kindergarten applications before Christmas. With so many classes full, admissions notices for applications for grades 1-8 may not go out until the end of the registration period.
Please remember that an application is not needed for a current student enrolled in SJB.
Registration to Begin December 29
For a student already enrolled, a parent must complete registration and enrollment each winter for the following school year. The purpose of registration is to give the school a clear projection of enrollment, which determines staffing, budget, and openings for new applicants.
Registration-enrollment is done on TADS. Although the registration fee covers the whole family, the enrollment steps must be completed for each child in the school.
Registration begins on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, for students returning for 2022-23 school year.
Registration Start: Wednesday, December 29
Registration End: Tuesday, January 25
SJB Parish Verification Form must be completed online when registering.
