Principal's Note 10/8/19

1st Floor Fire Alarms Are Operational

The 1st floor school fire alarm system is now operating. If a smoke-detector senses fire or an alarm lever is pulled, an evacuation message will play on speakers throughout the school, and the whole system will be activated.

Electricians are working on bringing the 2nd floor alarm system online by the end of the week.

There are some issues that still need to be worked out. The strobe lights throughout the school must be synced. They’ve been turned off until that issue is resolved. An alarm verification feature must be programmed into the smoke detectors. Until that’s been done, cleaning-supply fumes or dust could activate them.

Electricians are scheduled to meet with the alarm technician on Wednesday to address programming issues and testing.

Donuts & Dads

Donuts & Dads is coming up on Friday, October 18, right after drop off! Donuts for Dads will take place after morning drop off in the Marianne Moore Courtyard and Garden, outside the 1st, 2nd, and 7th grade classrooms.

A Note About Safety -- Please be sure to drop off your children in the normal way through the drop-off line. Adults should then park and join their children in the Marianne Moore Garden.

Click here for more information and please sign up so we can get a donut estimate. Please share this invitation with the grandparents, uncles, and other special people your child might want to see there!

Thank you.

Get in the holiday spirit and support St. John the Baptist School!  The 8th Grade is selling wreaths, centerpieces and table top trees to help with the cost of graduation week activities.  If you need a wreath or holiday centerpiece, why not support SJB?  The table top trees are great for senior apartments or anyone who doesn’t need a full-size tree but still wants that natural evergreen scent in their home.  Orders are shipped directly to recipients via FedEX and make great holiday gifts.  Please go to www.MickmanHolidayGifts.com and use fundraising code STJOHNMD005 and list Anne Thomas as your referring seller.  If you have questions, please contact Anne Thomas at anne.thomas@grace.com.  Thank you for your support of the 8th Grade Class of 2020.

Students and Parents Gather for Prayers and Pet Blessing

Thank you, Father Cezary, and all of the parents who came to the Blessing of the Pets last Friday, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

We had a beautiful prayer service on the hill by the field as the sun rose over the trees. Students led a few prayers. The students sang All You Works of God as Father Cezary blessed the pets assembled with the parents on the field.
