The latest parent-teacher conference schedule has been posted in the Parent Portal and included in an email to all families.
No School Friday or Monday -- This is a reminder that school is closed on Friday, Nov. 8, for a faculty retreat and on Monday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day.
See the Gold Folder -- Please see this week's Gold Folder for all the latest on SJB activities and events, including International Night on Friday, Nov. 15.
Parent Ambassadors Needed -- Finding and enrolling new families is vital to a Catholic school. Consider helping SJB by becoming a Parent Ambassador. We are looking for school parents who are willing to help recruit and support prospective new parents. Please go to this sign-up page if you are able and willing to do any of the following:
- Deliver Flyers and/or Postcards to child care centers and nursery schools
- Give tours during Open Houses
- Write short thank you notes to families who come to our Open Houses
- Follow up with phone calls to new parents to check on them and invite them to events
Merianne Spencer (Alicia 3, Saria 1, Luci PK), our school board representative and Communication Chair, will help coordinate the Parent Ambassadors. Here is a flyer-delivery signup list to help us track the nursery schools and child care centers receiving flyers and postcards.
Tour Guides will will receive talking points and will be invited to a practice tour.
Letter writers will receive stationery and suggested notes.
Here again is the sign-up page for Parent Ambassadors.
We are grateful for your support.
Halloween Parade Great Fun -- Even inside the gym, the Halloween Parade and afternoon activities were lots of fun for the students. Thank you to the parents who came out to support and cheer on the kids.
Thanksgiving Meal Drive -- Your child's classroom teacher and room parent should have information about the collection for Thanksgiving meals for families in need. Meals will be delivered on Friday, Nov. 22, before Thanksgiving. Families receiving meals are referred to us by the St. Joseph Food Pantry. If you are interested in helping by delivering meals, see the sign-up form in the Gold Folder. Parents must be child-protection certified to take students on a meal delivery.
Baba Bomani a Big Hit with SJB -- The students were treated to a tremendous performance by a talented, entertaining, and engaging educator in Baba Bomani, whose hip-hop performance included dancing, call and response, lessons in poetry, a review of the writing process, a music lesson on beat and rhythm, and the story of American history hero Frederick Douglass. Bomani weaved in the knowledge and gave students an opportunity to practice what they learned in an hour.
