Celebrate Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week is approaching, and we plan to celebrate at SJB with a combination of fun, spirit, service, family and prayer.

It begins on Monday, Jan. 29, with Student Appreciation Day and Spirit Day. Students may come to school out of uniform and wearing their SJB spirit wear.

On Tuesday, students will partner with their buddy classes for a buddy activity.

On Wednesday, we will form a Living Rosary in the church and pray the Rosary together. Before we say the Rosary, students will hear from a representative of a Solar Grid Service Project in Puerto Rico that our school is supporting with hurricane relief aid.

Our most eventful day of Catholic Schools Week is Thursday, Feb. 1. Parents are invited to the school for our Open House from 8:30 to 10:30 am. Many parents come to the school for this annual tradition, and the children always love to have their parents join them in the classroom. At 10:45 am, we go to Family Mass together.  The Mass is hosted by the 2nd grade.  After Family Mass, we will have a Family Lunch in the gymnasium. Please order  your family lunch now because we will not be able to take orders on the day of the event.

Friday is Roll Out of Bed & Read Day, which means students may come to school wearing their pajamas. Of course, we will have reading time in the morning. Our annual Basketball Foul Shot Contest takes place at 10:45 am. The school day ends with noon dismissal.

On Friday night, many SJB kids will return for Friday Night Bingo at 6:30 pm. Here's the order form for Bingo.

Bingo is Next Friday

If your child is going to Bingo Night next Friday, you must order ahead. There will be no sales at the door.

Here is the order form.

Bingo is planned and coordinated entirely by parent volunteers. All students are welcome to Bingo Night on Friday, Feb. 2. It begins at 6:30 pm in the gym. Students in 2nd grade and below must have a parent supervising them.

Here is all of the information from parent coordinator Courtney Gardner (Tess 8th, Jillian 6th):

Join your friends and classmates on Friday, February 2, from 6:30 to 9 pm for Kids’ Night Bingo. There will be a wonderful collection of prizes for Bingo winners, and there will be snacks and consolation prizes for everyone. New this year: Pizza is available, and all snacks are individually wrapped for germ control.

Pizza must be pre-ordered. It is $2/slice. Please order the pizza and water on the order form with your bingo tickets and don't forget to specify plain or pepperoni. Those who have ordered pizza may come as early as 6 pm to eat.

All students from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade are welcome. Students in pre-k to 2nd grade must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $5 per student (checks payable to SJB HSA).  Additional bingo packs may be purchased for $5/pack! If your child wishes to play more than one pack, your child may purchase up to two additional packs (for a max of 3) for $5/pack. Please remember, tickets will not be sold at the door.
