We are in the spirit at SJB.
Students may come to school out of uniform on Wednesday, Dec. 13, and we encourage the kids to wear something in Christmas colors or with a Christmas theme. Students will get together with their buddy classes in the afternoon and work on Advent projects including letters to our service veterans.
The SJB Band will have its Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 2 pm and again at 7:30 pm. The 2 pm concert is played primarily for students, and the first several rows will be reserved for students and the back rows will be open to parents and relatives. Seating will be open for the 7:30 show.
Our students have been rehearsing for the Christmas Program, a tradition of telling the story of Christ's birth through readings and songs.
The Christmas Program will begin at 7 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the church. We ask that parents bring students to the school at 6:30 pm in the clothes that they need to wear for the concert. Students should report to their classrooms. Their teachers will lead them to the gym and line them up for their procession into the church at 7:00.
It's OK to go to the church early and save a good seat for your relatives. It's not OK to drop coats in a few select pews and then return just before 7 to claim your seats. Unaccompanied coats will be collected and hung up at 6:15.
Reminder -- there is a dress rehearsal performance at 10:45 am on Tuesday, Dec. 19. The morning matinee has been a big hit with grandparents.
Our School Christmas Liturgy and Shower for Baby Jesus will begin the morning after the Christmas Concert. The Mass will be hosted by the 7th grade and will begin at 10:45 am on Thursday, Dec. 21.
School ends at noon on Thursday, Dec. 21, and there is no After Care that day. If you come to the Christmas liturgy, please park nose-to-tail in the lot as you would for dismissal.
Parents Support Combining School Board & H.S.A.
SJB parents voted overwhelmingly, 144-8, to approve the proposal to consolidate the School Advisory Board and the Home School Association. SJB families should be proud of their participation. Members of the H.S.A. and School Board will discuss the next steps of the transition, including elections and solicitation of candidates, at 7:30 pm on Monday, Jan. 22, in the library.

SJB Art on Display at Community Art Show
SJB was invited to participate in a Community Art Show with the consortium elementary and middle schools to be held at Springbrook High School on Thursday, December 14, from 5 to 7 pm. Mrs. Leishear will have some SJB artwork on display at the show. It will also be available for viewing on Friday afternoon, Saturday from 7:30 am to 2 pm and on Sunday from 10:30 am to 1 pm for those who would like to check it out!

A Few Notes
Neighbors -- SJB wants to be a good neighbor. Please help us to stay a good neighbor by driving safely and considerately through the residential neighborhood as you come and go from the school.
Dogs -- We are dog lovers at SJB, but we also understand that some children are allergic or afraid of dogs, so we ask that you keep your dogs in the car if you bring them during dismissal or drop-off. When we invite visitors to the school with dogs, as we have done for Career Day, we first notify parents of the children scheduled to see the dogs to make sure that it is OK with them.
Slime -- Please don't let your kids bring it here.
