Join Us for an SJB Christmas on Tuesday, Dec. 18

We hope to see everyone for the Christmas Program on Tuesday night at 7 pm.

The children have been hard at work, singing and reading with their teachers under the direction of Mr. Shillingford, our music director.

There are a few procedures to go over before the big show.

Children should meet in their homerooms at 6:30 pm. If they come earlier, they should wait with their parents.  Students should arrive dressed according to the What To Wear flyer. All classes will move to the gym and form lines at 6:50 pm, and from there will make a procession into the church at 7 pm.

The students will fill the transepts, the side seating sections of the church. Kindergarten, first grade and second grade will be seated in the first two long rows of the church. Teachers and auction/raffle winners have reserved seats in rows 3-5.

Seating for Families

At 6 pm, we will open the church doors for parents and relatives who want to hold seats for family members. No one will be allowed to save seats by dropping coats and walking away. If someone tries to reserve spots by leaving coats on the pews, the coats will be hung up in the back of the church.

Reception in the Gym After the Program

After the program, all children will be dismissed from the church and will go back to their classrooms. Parents of students in Pre-K,  Kindergarten,  and grades 1 and 2 should pick up their children in their classrooms. Parents may decide on their own if they want to take their children to the gym for the reception. Older students will be brought to the gym by their teachers. Parents of students in grades 3-8 will meet their parents in the gym. Students are asked to take a drink and no more than two cookies at the reception. Parents, please help us by reminding the children not to run in the gym. It can get crowded, and many grandparents are expected to be there. Because it is a school night, the reception will last 30-40 minutes after the concert.

Please see the online signup list to sign up to bring cookies for the Christmas Program Reception.

There also will be a full-dress rehearsal at 10:45 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 18. The morning dress rehearsal has become a popular matinee option for many grandparents.

Advent/Christmas Liturgy

Our Christmas Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 10:45 am. We will have our annual Shower for Baby Jesus during the Mass. The shower gifts go to the children of Mary House, a DC shelter for homeless families. During this liturgy, the children will sit with their classes, but we invite families to join us for the celebration.

Parking for Advent/Christmas Liturgy

If you are coming to this mass and then taking your child from school, please park as you would for regular afternoon pickup. The cones will be set up in advance. That means all cars should be lined up in rows, taillight to headlight, facing the direction of the Kazista Center, location of Kindergarten, the Art Room, and the Library.

This will make the break for Christmas Vacation all the easier.

Remember: No After Care & 12 Noon Dismissal

Please remember there is no After Care on Wednesday, Dec. 19, and dismissal is at 12 noon.

More than $300 Raised for Holy Family

Students raised more than $300 for Holy Family on last week's TAG Day.

The money will go to Holy Family Catholic School in Hillcrest Heights, which has been "in consultation" with the Archdiocese due to a lack of funds. Thank you for helping Catholic school students save their school.

SJB Band Concert is Thursday, Dec. 13

The daytime concert will start at 2 pm, and the nighttime concert will begin at 7:30 pm on Thursday, Dec. 13. Students will be given the seats in the front sections for the daytime concert. Parents will be given the front section seats for the nighttime concert.
