January 3, 2022
Dear SJB Families,
SJB will have a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, Jan. 4, or the school will be closed if Montgomery County Public Schools are closed.
This is notice that SJB won't open on time on Tuesday.
The school is managing a temporary staff shortage caused by Covid-19 in addition to the school-day uncertainty caused by the snowstorm.
Five SJB classroom teachers and aides are in isolation or quarantine due to exposures that occurred during the break. Seven students are in isolation or quarantine.
With substitute teachers largely unavailable, a further reduction of staff could force the school to shift to virtual learning.
Please be assured that the school is making every effort to continue safe operation of in-person learning, and there is no plan at this time to switch to distance learning. We will notify you if it becomes necessary to make such a shift.
This Week...
- Please remind your children to come to school with headphones or earbuds. In some classes, students will be taught virtually by teachers from remote locations. At all times, students will be supervised by teachers or aides in the classrooms.
- The After Care program will be based in the gym. Parents should go the front doors of the school for After Care pickup from the gym.
Thank you, SJB families, for your enduring cooperation and support.
Respectfully and Faithfully,
Brian Blomquist
