Principal's Note 2/13/18

Parents, Please Consider Judging Arts & Academics

Please consider judging the students' science or art projects and presentations on the evening of Tuesday, March 6. The success of our Arts & Academics festival depends on the willingness of outside judges to evaluate students' oral presentations. So far, we've had a small response to our call for judges. If you can help to support this academic effort, please complete the A&A form for judges and send it back to the school office in the Gold Folder.

Here's the Winning SJB T-Shirt Design

T-shirt 2018 for Tuesday folder.jpg

Congratulations, 8th grader Nubiya Matlock! Nubiya is SJB's T-shirt design winner!  With 41 creative entries, the contest was not easy to judge. Runners-up were Rico Chapa in Kindergarten, Darya Zalalutdinov and Quinn Langan in the 4th grade. Nubiya captured the school's spirit -- and its four pillars -- in her jaguar design, which will be featured on this year's T-shirt. Order forms for the T-shirts are coming soon. Thank you to all of the student participants, Kathleen Langan (Riley 8th, Aidan 6th, Quinn 4th) for coordinating the contest, and Mrs. Leishear for judging.

Please Consider Service on the School Board

Please consider volunteering for service on the the school board or nominating another parent for the school board by using this nominations form.

Complete the form and return it to the school office in the Gold Folder. The SJB School Advisory Board and Home School Association are being restructured to improve efficiency and reduce duplication.

Spring Gala Date: April 21

Please reserve the night of Saturday, April 21, for the SJB Spring Gala. It is our one major fundraiser of the year, and it is always a fun night for our parents to get together. Look soon for ticket information and auction items. We will be looking for great ideas -- vacations, dinners, treats, services, lessons -- to put up for sale.

Substitute Band Director Takes Over Temporarily

Band students will play their instruments under the direction of Mr. Doug Harvey while Mrs. Tifford takes several weeks of maternity leave. Mr. Harvey comes to us from the Archdiocesan Music Program. Please let us know if you have any questions for him, and we will do our best to try to handle his communication to parents.

Parent Series on Resource Program Will Be March 5

The Parent Series on our Resource Program has been rescheduled for Monday, March 5, from 7 to 8 pm. The originally scheduled event was called off for weather last week.

All school parents are welcome to attend the parent meeting, which will include a presentation on SJB's resource program by resource director Lisa Case. Parents will have the opportunity to ask Mrs. Case and other SJB resource staff members questions about the program.

The SJB resource program aims to provide extra support for students with specific learning needs. The meeting will take place in room 8.

Spring Play Schedule Depends on Role in Cast

The spring play rehearsal and practice schedule is posted on the school calendar and copied below. Specific cast members are expected to attend specific rehearsals based on this cast list and the spring play plan.

Cast members are not expected to attend all rehearsals!

To find out when you have rehearsal, do the following:

1. check the cast list for your character

2. check the spring play plan to see if your character is called in section 1, 2, or 3

3. check the calendar below (and on the Gold Folder page) to see if your section has been called to rehearsal

The rehearsal schedule below offers even more specific information about the parts of the play that will be rehearsed. It is the student's responsibility to learn parts, sections, songs and characters of the play.

Members of the stage crew have practice on Fridays.
