Dear SJB Families,
I am writing to express my gratitude to you for sending your children to SJB. I am also taking this opportunity to share our financial report for the 2017-18 school year.
Our fiscal health remains strong based on high retention, an increase in K-8 enrollment, and the creation of our new pre-school.
Like other Catholic schools, SJB has moved into a position of greater financial independence. We believe we have been able to accomplish the transition while retaining our academic excellence, strong supportive community, Catholic identity, and commitment to affordability. The generosity of our families has made this possible.
As parents, many of you sacrifice to pay tuition, and some of you volunteer long hours to help our children, support our teachers and raise money through school fundraisers. All of us at SJB are grateful for your efforts.
Thank you for making education a priority in your lives. We will keep you in our prayers, and we ask God to bless you, our families, the spirit of our school.
Yours faithfully,
Brian Blomquist
Principal
SJB
Register for 2018-19 Before Next Friday
Please remember to go into your TADS account and register for the 2018-19 school year. By registering on time, you will help the school in several ways. We will be able to determine the new school budget, set the tuition rate, and send out tuition agreements earlier than ever.
We will be able to set up a 12-month tuition payment plan that we believe will make SJB affordable to more families.
Father-Daughter Dance is Saturday
Father-Daughter Dance is THIS Saturday, February 24, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the SJB Gym. There is still time to order tickets (corsage orders are closed). We need bakers to sign up for desserts for the dance - please use the Sign Up Genius and "think pink" for your desserts - Pinterest has great pink dessert ideas! Don't miss this special night to celebrate our girls! There will be excellent music provided by our DJ, delectable desserts, and photos to keep. Plus: Every daughter in attendance will have a chance to win several prizes, including a $50 gift certificate to True Nail Spa.
Tickets can be purchased on line or with the order form. If you ordered a corsage, you can pick it up Friday, 2/23 at dismissal or at the dance. Father stand-ins are welcome: Brothers, Cousins, Grandfathers, Godfathers, Uncles, or even Moms! This is a school/parish/community event so please help us spread the word - all ages and friends welcome! This is not a fundraiser - ticket costs cover the event expenses. We also need volunteers to help with dance set up/help during/and clean up - thanks in advance for making this event a success! Questions contact Kathleen Langan at kathleenschooley@yahoo.com

Thank You! From the SJB Student Council
We would like to thank you all for the success of last week's bake sale for Puerto Rico. Thank you to the 5th-8th grade parents and students for sending in treats to sell at the bake sale. With your help we raised $505.71! Including the tag days at the beginning of the year we will be sending more than $1,100 to a company called Global Solace. Global Solace is helping towns in Puerto Rico and across the world regain power and electricity. Their goal is to use solar power to prepare these towns for future storms and to provide sustainable electrical systems. Thank you all so much for displaying your generosity and stewardship!
Parents, Please Consider Judging Arts & Academics
Please consider judging the students' science or art projects and presentations on the evening of Tuesday, March 6. The success of our Arts & Academics festival depends on the willingness of outside judges to evaluate students' oral presentations. So far, we've had a small response to our call for judges. If you can help to support this academic effort, please complete the A&A form for judges and send it back to the school office in the Gold Folder.
School Notes:
- Creative writing entries may be submitted to the ballot box in the front hallway. Here is the entry form. Judging will be March 14, and winners will be announced April 11. Please let us know if you are willing to read entries and be a judge.
Please Consider Service on the School Board
Please consider volunteering for service on the the school board or nominating another parent for the school board by using this nominations form.
Complete the form and return it to the school office in the Gold Folder. The SJB School Advisory Board and Home School Association are being restructured to improve efficiency and reduce duplication.
Spring Gala Date: April 21
Please reserve the night of Saturday, April 21, for the SJB Spring Gala. It is our one major fundraiser of the year, and it is always a fun night for our parents to get together. Look soon for ticket information and auction items. We will be looking for great ideas -- vacations, dinners, treats, services, lessons -- to put up for sale.
