Arts & Academics Is Next Week
Arts & Academics is a big event at SJB, and it begins next week. On Monday afternoon, teachers will begin setting up displays of student projects in the gym. Set-up will continue on Tuesday with students arriving with their projects throughout the day. Many students will be working through this weekend on completing their projects.
Sixth grade students will make oral presentations before judges on their art/artist/design projects on Tuesday and Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, all of the classes will take turns coming to the gym to view the A&A projects. Fifth grade students will deliver state report presentations to 4th grade students, and 7th grade students will give science presentations to 6th grade students.
On Wednesday night from 7 to 8 pm, everyone is welcome as the Arts & Academics festival opens its doors to parents, relatives and friends.
By the time the doors open, the 6th grade and 7th grade projects will have been awarded 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place awards.
Please come to the A&A Festival at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 7, and support all of the students who worked hard on their projects from beginning to end: choosing their topics, researching and reading, writing and rewriting, testing hypotheses, creating eye-catching exhibits and practicing their oral deliveries. Please also remember to take the the projects home with you when you leave.
March Madness Tag Day – Thursday, March 1st!
On Thursday, March 1st, the SJB Student Council invites students to wear their favorite sports team/basketball gear. Thursday is a full out-of-uniform day with the theme being our favorite professional and college teams. It's March Madness time!
Students can wear team apparel, team colors, or SJB spirit wear! No shorts, no open toed shoes, no bare shoulders, please. The Student Council asks that students consider a $1-2 donation which will go toward activities such as Movie Day and our spring picnic. Thank you for your support and go, teams, go!

Father-Daughter Dance Was a Big Hit
The Father Daughter Dance was amazing! Thank you to all of the dads and daughters who came to the dance. We had more than 80 girls dressed to impress! The gym was transformed into a magical place with glowing lanterns, twinkle lights and lots of pink tulle, and the dance floor was always full of twirling girls. The homemade treats were scrumptious and chocolate flowed from a fountain.
There were many raffle prize winners thanks to the generosity of LZC jewelry from Lissa Cunningham, True Nail Spa gift certificates from Holly Nguyen, and special candies and teddy bears from the Smith family. Thank you all!! Additional prizes went to our hoola-hoop contest winners, youngest and oldest daughters in attendance, the closest birthday for an escort and his girl, and the 'Guess How Many Candies' jar. Congratulations to all the winners!
Good Vibrations provided great music and a photo booth - a link to all those photos is here: 2018 SJB Father Daughter Dance - Booth
Kevin Trebel lent us his equipment and expertise for a portrait station where everyone had fun striking a pose! Kevin uploaded all of those photos here: 2018 SJB Father Daughter Dance - Portraits
