Black History Jeopardy Finals Are Today
The Black History Jeopardy finals take place in the Gym at 1:45 pm today (Tuesday, Feb. 28). Students and classes in grades 1-8 compete in lower-grade and upper-grade games.
Schoolwide games started last week. See a 30-second clip of the competition.
In the first two weeks of February, grade-level teams played against each other to determine which team would go to the schoolwide competition.
The SJB Diversity Committee, made up of parents and faculty, designed and planned the tournament to be fun and educational during February's Black History Month. This is the second year of the schoolwide competition, and the students have enjoyed themselves and performed exceptionally well in answering the questions.
Thank you to the Diversity Committee parents who did the research and work on the packets of Black History questions.
Arts & Academics
Call for Judges
The Arts and Academics showcase returns this year! Families are invited to view the large display of work from every grade level on Wednesday, March 15th from 7 to 8 pm in the Gym.

Potential science judges should contact Mr. Daly at kevin.daly@sjbsilverspring.org.
Potential art judges should contact Mrs. Castillo at liz.castillo@sjbsilverspring.org.
Judging is a great opportunity for 5th and 6th grade parents to preview what's in store for their child next year at Arts & Academics.
How to Get A&A Display Boards
All students in grades 5-8 must have display boards for their Arts & Academic research papers, projects, and presentations. The boards can be purchased for $7 (cash or check) by students during lunch when Ms. Schwab visits the classrooms. Checks should be payable to SJB.
