We Need Your Feedback

Please help us by taking a short survey on our school traditions and some of our volunteering challenges. The survey has been emailed to all school families, and a link is included here. The survey is available to parents and students, who take it anonymously. If a student takes the survey, the questions are a little different than they are for a parent.

We ask that you take the survey once and just once.

Our purpose is to get a sense of what our parents think about SJB events and traditions, the challenges to participating in those events, and the challenges to volunteering to produce those events. We also ask about our school policy requiring each family to serve five lunch duties or pay $40 for each duty day missed.

The survey, which was created by Merianne Spencer (Alicia 2nd, Saria K), chair of the Public Relations and Marketing Committee of the School Advisory Board, will be used to help the school board as it considers other school volunteering models over the next several months.

Students Make Sandwiches For Martha's Table

This Holy Week, we reflect on our Lenten commitments and actions. On Friday, students worked in teams on making hundreds of sandwiches for the poor. Faculty members provided the meat and cheese and delivered the sandwiches to Martha's Table. Younger-grade students made Easter Cards. On previous Fridays, the children gathered in the Church for Stations of the Cross. Our classes also collected food for the parish food drive for the St. Camillus Food Pantry.

Half-Day on Wednesday, No After Care on Wednesday

Easter Vacation begins on Wednesday, April 17, with a 12 noon dismissal. There is no After Care on Wednesday. The school office will be closed on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, April 18-19. School will resume on Monday, April 29.

The school will be closed over the break while the gym floors are being cleaned and coated and ceiling work is happening in the hallways.

Remember to Put Aside Items for Ms. Moore's West Virginia Trip

Easter vacation is on the horizon! If you decide to do some spring cleaning out, please remember that Ms. Moore will be making her 21st annual trip to West Virginia in June.  She is happy to pass along to the families in Appalachia gently used baby and children's clothing, all sorts of linens (sheets, towels. blankets, pillows), household items and personal hygiene items (even travel sizes).

Beginning on Monday, May 6, families may put donated items in the gym stairwell. Please put loose items in a bag and mark the bag "WV."

 Seeking School Directory Helper

We are looking for a parent volunteer who is willing to take on the job of creating and printing the school directory. This is a task done over the summer. For the past several years, Nancie Tassara (Sofia 8th) has created and printed the directory. Mrs. Tassara is willing to act as a mentor to the new directory writer. She will be available through June to help get the new directory started. Mrs. Tassara has used a spreadsheet program and arranged for its printing. All of the expenses are covered by the school.

Parish Verification Forms Must Be Submitted by April 17

To be eligible for the sibling discount and/or the Catholic rate, a completed Parish Verification Form must be provided to the school office by April 17. It is parish policy that the Parish Verification Form be completed each year. To receive the Catholic rate, outside parishioners must submit a Parish Verification Form with their pastor’s signature (or an attached letter from their pastor). Families may use the Parish Verification Form to request parish tuition assistance. A printable Parish Verification Form can always be found on the Tuition page of the school website.

Final Steps in Enrollment

  • March 31  -- Returning Families Complete Registration To Guarantee Placement
  • April 12 -- Parish Verification Forms Submitted for Catholic Rate

-- Forms Submitted to Request Parish Tuition Assistance

  • May 1 to May 31 -- Families Select Tuition Payment Plan

                                      -- $100 Fee Applies After May 31

Registration, enrollment, and tuition are done on TADS.

Registration must be completed by April to help the school set enrollment for the 2019-20 school year. We want all of our families to return to SJB. If you are thinking about leaving, please contact me so that we can discuss your concerns. We want our families here to be happy with the school, and we want families seeking Catholic education to know about the opportunities at SJB.

After completing enrollment, there is one step to go. You must submit a tuition payment plan. In early May, you will receive a tuition payment plan email from TADS. If you don't receive the email, it may have gone into your junk mail. Or, you can log directly into TADS and go to agreements.

You will need to choose your tuition payment plan by June 1 or you will be charged a fee of $100. If you miss the June 1 deadline, you must submit your tuition payment plan by June 15 or you will be charged a fee of $150.

Please call the TADS parent support line (612.548.3320 or 800.477.8237) if you have questions about your TADS account.

Apply Now for BOOST

Tuition Assistance Deadline is April 17

Applications for Maryland BOOST scholarships are open until April 17. Families may use BOOST money to pay for private school tuition. SJB is a participating school and has families that have received money through BOOST. To complete a BOOST application, go to this website.

If you are asking, Should I apply or not? the chart below may help. The BOOST Program provides scholarships for students who would be eligible for the free lunch or reduced-price meals program if they were in a public elementary school. Here are the income requirements for those programs:
