Hung King's Procession is Wednesday

Students may come to school out of uniform on Wednesday, April 21, and are encouraged to wear their most colorful clothes for Hung King's Day, a major Vietnamese holiday. In honor of our many families of Vietnamese heritage, we will have a Hung King's procession around the field at 11 am.

On the 10th day of the third lunar month of the year, the Vietnamese people join processions and pilgrimages to celebrate the founding of their nation by the Hung Dynasty in 2879 BC.

Students will learn about Vietnam and its holiday. In Vietnamese, Hung Vuong means Brave King.

Students Will Build "Motherships" on Thursday

Students collaborated online with their older or younger "buddies" to plan their Motherships. On Thursday afternoon, they will build them. Students should bring in their recycled materials, and they may wear their PE uniforms for mothership-building comfort.

Reminder: No School on Friday, April 23

We're Getting the Band Back Together

Last week, our 8th grade band members practiced together for the first time since the start of the pandemic more than a year ago. Our terrific band director, Ms. Tifford, has outside practice sessions scheduled for 7th grade band members this Thursday (4/22) and 6th grade members next Thursday (4/29).

While they practice together in the courtyard outside the church, the students maintain 6 feet of distance and wear masks except when they're playing their instruments. We've scheduled separate sessions for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades... for now.
