Hispanic Heritage Month Begins Thursday
For Hispanic Heritage Month, each SJB class adopts a country in Central America, South America, or in the Caribbean. Over four weeks, students learn about their class country's culture, people, and history. There will be a culminating activity on Oct. 13 or 14. See the video of last year's Hispanic Heritage Day activity.
The SJB Diversity Committee, comprised of parents and teachers, helps plan and support Hispanic Heritage Month. The Diversity Committee meets tonight at 7 pm. Link to Join Meeting on TEAMS

The Gold Folder has information on Family Flix, the Cornhole Tournament, teams and sports.

NWEA Map Assessments Will Begin Soon
Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Washington, including St. John the Baptist, are using NWEA Map assessments in 2022-23. SJB and other Archdiocesan schools used Scantron tests over the past several years. With the NWEA Map tests, students are assessed in reading, language arts, and math three times during the school year: fall, winter, and spring. Fall scores provide teachers with baseline data to help plan instruction. Winter scores may result in instructional priority adjustments. Student growth reports will be shared with families in the spring.
