Dear SJB Families,
This week is brought to you by your Vice Principal—thanks for your understanding! Mr Blomquist is home recuperating and I’m not about to disturb him.
Morning Drop-Offs: An important note, PLEASE: During morning drop off, DO NOT use the Lyon Center parking lot unless you are dropping off a Pre School child. Some carpools with older students only have been coming through late and it is dangerous. Also, if you need to park in the morning and come into the office or to meet with another parent, please drop your student(s) first on the gold line, then move around to park. We want to avoid having children cross the line of cars entering and exiting the lot. Child safety is our first priority and your cooperation is both appreciated and necessary.

Mr Blomquist Update/Normal School News:
Our first week back this year was quite exciting. We opened our Pre-K 4 Program and Mr. William Ryan, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Washington, was present for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the blessing of the classroom by Fr. David. Students in Grades 1-8 met in the gym for the opening school prayer and learned of the Theme for the year: “Come to the Table.” Our first month’s focus is to “come to the table with encouragement.”
We welcomed our newest staff members: Mrs. MacPherson, Pre-K teacher; Mrs. Regan, Pre-K aide; and Ms. Lippert, Grade 5 Homeroom, Gr 5 Religion, Social Studies (6&7) and LA(6).
Back to School Night was well-attended. It was a blessing to have so many parents come to visit with their child’s/children’s teacher(s). The week was capped off by our Opening of School Liturgy on Friday afternoon. This Mass was hosted by our 8th grade students and concelebrated by Fr. David, Fr. Tony and a former assistant priest, Fr. Barry, who is currently serving in Resurrection Parish.
On Back to School Night we learned that our enrollment is up and that our students scored high enough on their reading and math Scantron tests last year to qualify us as a continuing Blue Ribbon School! There is a great deal to be thankful for and all of you realize the amount of work that goes into such success. SJB home and school cooperation is an unbeatable force!
I also want to thank all of those who reached out to me or to other members of the faculty and staff with prayers and good wishes for Mr Blomquist’s recovery. He is home now and doing better every day. We have a wonderful community; you have indeed “Come to the Table” to share your care, talent, and time this week!
****In this abbreviated note, I ask you to please pay close attention and check the attachments to see those things that are of need or interest to you and your family. Your Gold Folder also has many of these flyers enclosed.
Yours Faithfully,
Mrs Morris
