Principal's Note 9/17/19

Many parents need only a fingerprint background check to complete certification. Here's a list of approved fingerprint centers to help those parents complete the final step in certification.

One fingerprinting center, American Identify Solutions (12501 Prosperity Drive), is just 2.7 miles, a 9-minute drive, from SJB.

Some parents must start the certification process from the beginning by registering on Virtus, registering to attend a child-protection training class, and then completing the fingerprint background check.

The school’s Volunteers and Child Protection page has instructions for parents who are starting certification and instructions for parents who need only the fingerprint background check.

Martha Kerley, parish child-protection coordinator for the parish, can help by telling you what steps you still need to take to become certified, and she can help you track your fingerprint background check. Contact her at mkerley@sjbssparish.org.

Early Bird Special Added for After Care -- SJB offers an additional early-bird special. It's a 5-day-per-week annual plan for children who are picked before 4 pm each regular school day and before 1 pm on half-days. The cost is $200 per month. 

 Box Tops Have Gone Digital -- Box Tops for Education is now digital. With the Box Tops app, snap a picture or email the Box Top to give SJB credit and $$$. 

To download the mobile app, just search for Box Tops for Education (in the App store).

Maryland's Growing Subsidies for After Care & PreK

Maryland has expanded After Care and preschool assistance to families.

Take a look at current income eligibility requirements. They have increased and probably will increase again. Please consider applying if you are eligible. SJB's After Care program and preschool are licensed with the state's EXCELS program, enabling the school to participate in the voucher program.
