Dear SJB Families,
Thank you for your prayers and kind wishes while I recovered from an unexpected illness over the past week. It was a good feeling to know that the school was in the capable hands of Mrs. Morris, our vice principal, and that she had the full support of the school staff and the SJB families.
I am easing back this week. I missed being here and seeing the students each day.
I have a few reminders for everyone.
Parent Series Math Meeting on Wednesday in Library
On Wednesday night in the library, our math teachers will host a Q&A and informational session with school parents. From 6 to 7 pm, parents and teachers will discuss the K-4 math program. From 7 to 8 pm, parents and teachers will discuss the middle-school math program (grades 5-8).
As I explained in my Back to School remarks, our aim in holding these Parent Series meetings is to listen to your concerns, respond to questions, and give you a clear picture of what is going on in the classrooms every day. Parents are welcome to ask questions, raise concerns, and seek clarifications about the overall aim of the math curriculum. At SJB, we believe that children learn best when parents and teachers are true partners in their education. We are confident that the meetings will be a productive part of our partnership and will help to improve the overall education of the children here.
Half Day on Friday
Friday is a half-day. Dismissal will be at noon on Friday, Sept. 22.
Family Flix
Friday night is Family Flix, one of of our first big events of the school year. Family Flix is a great tradition. SJB families gather on the lawn at about 6:15 pm for a movie (the kids voted for The Boss Baby) and picnic. Some families pre-order food using this ORDER FORM. Some bring their own.
Family Flix Volunteers Needed --- The Family Flix coordinators are looking for volunteers to help with popcorn on Friday. Without enough volunteers, popcorn might not be available. The coordinators are also looking for help selling treats at concession stands and distributing pre-ordered food, water and juice boxes. Eighth-graders are welcome to help!! If you are able to help Friday during the day or at night, please contact Astrid Diaz at moo.diaz@verizon.net.
Thank you!!! Without your cooperation this event would not be possible.
Out of Uniform Friday
Fall Plant Sale
Fall plant sale orders may be picked up on Friday.

Volunteer Opportunities
We are looking for a few parents to step up and volunteer to help with our traditional events, including Breakfast with Santa and our annual Spring Gala. Our SJB traditions depend on the participation of our wonderful and active parent volunteers.
Please take a look at the Volunteer Sign-Up Form and sign up for what you think you can do. Everything that you do here enriches the children of SJB. Thank you, parents, for your wonderful support.
