Fire Panel Replaced, Alarm Being Tested
The aging fire-alarm panel was removed from Kazista Center and replaced with a new panel over the weekend. The new panel is being tested this week with the many sensors throughout the school and the alarm-monitoring service.
Faculty members, After Care supervisors, and parish staff have been advised that the Kazista Center fire system is not currently operational. Several staff members have been assigned to the fire watch team.
Electricians are completing the installation of sensors in the gymnasium, including the stage and storage areas behind and under the stage. Next, they will install sensors and signals in the church, and then the alarm technicians will complete the final tests before the system is inspected.

Congratulations to All Candidates for Student Council
The students who ran for Student Council showed true courage as they stood before a school assembly and delivered their campaign speeches. I congratulate each of them for trying something difficult despite odds against them. Five students (out of 13 candidates) were elected to the Student Council. Mrs. Morris, adviser to the student council, and I look forward to working with the new student leaders.

Please Drive Slowly and Carefully in Our Neighborhood
Many families living in the neighborhood behind SJB have children who walk to and from school. It's important that we drive slowly on the neighborhood streets and that we pay attention and follow traffic signals, particularly Stop signs. They have been good neighbors to us, and we want to be good neighbors to them. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
Morning Drop Off Reminders
Only Pre-K parents may drop off children in the parking lot by the Lyon Center and Pre-K classroom.
Parents dropping off children in the main parking lot must come up from Lima Drive (not down from the front of the church).
Those who drop off children in front of the church must exit via New Hampshire Avenue.
Afternoon Pick Up Reminders
Parents may not pick up children in front of the church.
Pre-K parents may park by the Lyon Center and PreK classroom. Parents without preschoolers must park in a pickup line in the main lot.
Getting Virtus-Certified May Be Simpler Than You Thought
If you were certified before, you might need to get fingerprinted before January to stay certified.
Here is the fingerprinting registration form with the prefilled reference number for SJB.
Here are the available fingerprinting centers.
One fingerprinting center, American Identify Solutions (12501 Prosperity Drive), is just 2.7 miles, a 9-minute drive, from SJB. You can call 240.670.7952 and schedule your session or even drop in. Parents have reported back that the process took them less than 10 minutes.
For more information on becoming child-protection certified, please visit our volunteer page.
Thank You, Orioles Night Organizers!
