• Policies

Policies are contained in the Preschool Handbook.

  • Hours

Preschool begins each school day at 8 am and ends at 3 pm.

  • Open House and Orientation

Open House and Orientation for all new preschool students and families.

  • After Care and Before Care

Preschool children are able to take part in Before Care and/or After Care. Here is the After Care sign-up form.

  • What to Wear

There is no uniform or uniform code for the preschool. Our only clothing guidance is that students wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for playing outside.

  • Snack and Lunch and Nap

The school will provide a mid-morning snack for students. Parents may send their children with bag lunches or take advantage of the lunch offerings at the school. Preschool students will participate in Hot Lunch Thursday. They may bring a bag lunch or complete a Hot Lunch Thursday order form.  Preschool students on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday will have the option of sending their children to school with bag lunches or ordering through Main and Market, our catered lunch vendor.

  • Milk

Preschool students will be served 1 percent milk during snack and lunch. Children will have a choice of water or milk at snack and lunch. State-licensed preschools must provide 1 percent milk to children. Parents will receive a $35 milk charge unless they notify the school in writing that their child cannot drink milk for health reasons.

  • Nap

The school will provide students with new nap mats. We ask parents to send a small sheet, labeled with their child’s name, in a sealed plastic baggie on the first day. Preschool teachers will contact you about a schedule for cleaning them.

  • Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Supervised drop-off will occur each day at 8 am in the Lyon Center lot, and supervised pickup will occur at 3 pm each day in the Lyon Center lot. Siblings of preschool students will meet on the Lyon Center sidewalk at pick up time. A teacher will escort siblings in grades K-2 to the sidewalk by the Lyon Center. When picking up their child from preschool, parents must sign the sign-out sheet.

  • School Calendar

The preschool is considered a part of SJB Catholic School and follows the school calendar. However, preschool parents do not come to Back to School Night. Preschool presentations take place at the preschool open house (Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 5 to 6 pm), and parents will have many opportunities in the school year to be involved in their child's classroom.

  • SJB's 3's and 4's

SJB has up to five 3-year-olds in the preschool program and up to sixteen 4-year-olds in the Pre-K program.

  • The Potty Rule

The kids in preschool must be able to use the potty on their own. It's a state regulation, which we follow.
