Courage and Sacrifice in February -- In February, we practice courage as we try to live according to our theme for the year: Virtues are the Key to the Kingdom of God. Next week, the students will attend Ash Wednesday Mass, which marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a 40-day period of prayer, charity, and sacrifice ending at sundown on Holy Thursday. The day before Ash Wednesday has many names: Fat Tuesday, Carnival, Mardi Gras. This year, Valentine's Day falls on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14, but it will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Teachers and room parents will communicate specific classroom information for Valentine's Day. Some schoolwide Valentine rules: Valentine's treats or cards must go to everyone in the class or to no one in the class. Food that goes to everyone must be nut free. Thank You, Parents, for the Family Lunch Turnout It was wonderful to see so many families at Mass and lunch in the gym last week.
